Something besides politics... and back to my agrarian heart...

Jerry Travers - Master Agrarian - Seminar Presenter this Sabbath at Church
Author, Teacher, Researcher, Scientist, Naturalist, Soil Analyst, Farm Manager, Organic Gardener, and Back to the Lander, Jerry Travers spends a Saturday afternoon at the Athol Seventh-day Adventist Church teaching nutrient-dense crop production through service gardening.
Most backyard gardens fail for the want of service. Weeds and a lack of water eventually put an end to spring dreams of harvest laden tables, and so we resign ourselves, "there's always next year."
Come and get inspired for the new growing season by learning principles and techniques that improve the soil's nutrient content, protect the environment, and encourage self-sufficiency.
Weather pemitting, the seminar will be followed by a nature walk and sing-a-long on the church's 108-acre property.
Teaching will include:
Agricultural Foundations
Genetics
The Future of Food
Redeeming the Soil
Recommended pre-seminar viewing – “The Future of Food” documentary
(widely available on DVD or the Internet at youtube.com and hulu.com)
Jerry Travers has taught and managed farms at Country Life Vocational Academy in Wisconsin and Ouachita Hills Academy in Arkansas. He is the author of the book, Agriculture: The ABC of Education. Jerry lives in Connecticut with his wife Susie where they caretake for his aging mother and manage an organic farm.
It should be a lot of fun. The weather is supposed to be nice, too! Come on down if you are in the area.

Just wanted to say hello, I've been stopping by to visit for a while now, I enjoy reading your thoughts.
I hope the seminar is wildly successful- it is a very timely topic.
Ann,
Thanks for your comments. I don't get a lot, but it is nice to be read from time to time.
Keep up the good work at home. I love Texas by the way!
It's high time we put more energy into our agrarian future rather than spending too much energy on failing to convince others that this is the way to go--to head for the country and be more self-sustaining. I expect they may want to join us later, and hopefully we can just welcome them, God willing.
Well said, Blauvelt!
