The Busiest Summer

This week the Adult Degree Program began at Atlantic Union College, where I work. Each day faculty get together for a meeting and then do brainstorming and advising with the students. Being the first day of the seminar, it was somewhat slow. So, a few of us began a conversation about travel, history, and of course we settled into handicapping U.S. Presidential politics. The Academic Dean even got involved. It was a fun discussion and one that you never get to have on the job usually.

Meanwhile, I am in full-scale remodeling mode. First, the mother-in-law suite (and it is SWEET!), and now a new bathroom in the basement. I need to start taking some photos. When will I have time for sailing? I'm always shopping for building materials it seems.

I have been teaching my daughter to read, using a phonics approach by the renowned Samuel Blumenfield, or is it Blumenthal? She's learning, but I have to be more consistent. Her birthday is in 8 days, and we are working on having her read by then.

Today was hot and humid D.C. type weather. It was not pleasant.
